Services Provided at the Enterprise Senior Center

Congregate Meals & Home Delivered Meals:

The Enterprise Senior Center serves 49 congregate meals a day. We deliver 16 homebound meals a day to individuals that are eligible. There are certain criteria that must be met in order for the Senior Center to deliver meals.  Please feel free to call if you have questions concerning these meals.

Meals are served at 11:30 AM.

Both meal services are funded by the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging (SARCOA).  SARCOA receives their funding for the nutrition services through federal, state, and local dollars.

All meals must be planned so that they

  • comply with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans
  • provide a minimum of 33% or 1/3 of the dietary reference intake as established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the institute of medicine of the National Academy of Sciences
  • are prepared and delivered through Valley Services, Dothan,  Alabama, which  contracts through the state.

In Alabama, more than four million nutritious meals are provided annually through this program for senior citizens.

Transportation:

We provide transportation to members who are unable to drive or do not have transportation and live within city limits. The Senior Center will pick you up from home.

Pick-up time is between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM and we return you home after lunch.

Information; Assistance; Outreach:

The Senior Center contacts potential clients (or their caregivers) to encourage the use of services and benefits we offer by either speaking individually with seniors during the local health fair and by contacting new residents to describe the Center’s activities.

The Senior Center provides comfort and help to members of the center in times of need by phoning or visiting.  We also call homebound members for friendly hellos or check-ins.   The Senior Center acknowledges special occasions and birthdays of each member every month to let them know they are special to us.

The Senior Center helps to assess problems and ensure that our members receive the services they need and are aware of opportunities available to them.

Information and Assistance may include:

  • Assisting a member to complete many different types of forms
  • Reassessing an existing member's situation to determine if changes should be made to the services he/she receives

Legal Assistance can be obtained through:

Davis & Neal Attorneys; Dothan, Alabama; Telephone (334) 671-3990

Any senior citizen can call to make arrangements for assistance on legal issues.  You don't have to be a member of the Senior Center.

Public Education:

We inform our members on various topics, such as crime or accident prevention, continuing education, legal issues, voting, ongoing scams and disaster training.

The Senior Center often has speakers come from different organizations to discuss these topics to increase awareness among our Senior Citizens.

Health Promotion:

The Senior Center promotes better health through the promotion of accurate and culturally sensitive nutrition, physical fitness, or nutrition-related health information.

We provide programs/services designed to maintain or improve the health and well being of a member including: health screening, health promotion, and other health-related activities.
